Ivy is being trained up as a poison gardener! She’s got a lot to learn if she is to protect her grandfather’s poison garden and fight off a new attack by the treacherous elf Finn. On the curriculum are poison lore, plant magic and Elfish martial arts. The last of these is taught by a great magician and friend of her grandfather, Dúnin the elf. Ivy grows fond of Dúnin, who has a wonderful sense of humour. So she’s horrified when the magician is found half dead – poisoned by Finn, who is once again trying to take over the Poison Garden. The only antidote that can save Dúnin is the rare blue rose. But it only grows in Dúnin’s own poison garden far to the north...
