Mona Kasten had a great success with "Dream Again" on LYX and in the Quadriga section, Peter Hahne, "Seid ihr noch ganz bei Trost!", Katharina Nocun and Pia Lamberty with the title "Fake Facts". The book "Fake Facts" and its authors were an important part of the necessary discussion in recent weeks about conspiracy theories in times of crisis. At Baum-haus und Boje, the children's and youth books with their popular characters such as Greg, Rupert and Petronella Apfelmus also benefited from the additional demand during the lockdown weeks. The "Novel Booklets" segment contributed EUR 1.8 million to sales in the first quarter (previous year: EUR 2.2 million). Sales revenues in the current financial year are not comparable with those of the previous year, as Bastei Lübbe sold the puzzle division with effect from 31 May 2019. EBIT in the reporting period amounts to approx. EUR 0.3 million (previous year: EUR 0.8 million). The previous year's EBIT included one-off proceeds from the sale of the puzzle business. Considering interest and income taxes, the Bastei Lübbe Group's net income for the period was EUR 1.6 million, compared with EUR 0.8 million in the previous year. Of this, EUR 1.2 million is attributable to the shareholders of Bastei Lübbe AG after EUR 0.7 million in the previous year. This results in earnings per share of EUR 0.09 for the first quarter 2020/2021 compared to EUR 0.06 in the same quarter of the previous year. Debt reduction and agreement with former board members Bastei Lübbe terminated the factoring of its digital receivables as of 31 July 2020. The company is comfortably financed via a bank line and the factoring of its receivables from print products. Subject to the approval of the Annual General Meeting on 15 September 2020, Bastei Lübbe will conclude a settlement with former members of executive bodies for all claims asserted to date.
